There is a curious power to a story. From multi-season TV epics, to news cycle narratives, to the ones told in the quiet moments before bedtime, stories shape the way we think and live. At a very basic level, the only way we know anything at all is that we have crafted a story about it.
Perhaps the most important story is the one we tell ourselves about who we are. Where did we come from? Why am I here and not, say, somewhere else? Over the years, we build this story bit by bit, through our experience of life and by learning from those who came before us. Tales written together as a family, and trotted out at every family gathering. Everyone has heard them before. Everyone knows when to laugh.
To me, that's what genealogy is all about - working with others to discover our story. The process cannot be done alone, as our story is incomplete in isolation. We need the perspectives of others - both present and past - to fill it out. And we need ways to bring together these vistas into something coherent - a story we can tell the next generation. These are beautiful memories, and the real legacy we leave.
That's where MORI comes in. Our goal is to bring people together; bring families together. To allow everyone discover their story. And most importantly - to enjoy and share that story.
